Product Description

Milling 6061 Aluminum sandblasted anodized parts are a type of highly durable and visually appealing components that are widely used in modern industrial applications. These parts are fabricated using a combination of advanced technologies and high-quality materials to ensure their superior quality and long-lasting performance.

One of the most prominent features is their textured surface which is created using sandblasting techniques. This gives them a unique look and feel that sets them apart from other types of parts. Additionally, these parts are anodized to further enhance their durability and corrosion resistance, making them ideal for use in harsh environments.

Another advantage of these parts is their lightweight nature, which makes them ideal for use in various applications where weight is a factor. They are also easy to machine and can be customized in various shapes and sizes to suit specific design requirements.

Product Feature

Sandblasting and anodizing are two widely used surface finishing processes. While sandblasting is used to remove impurities and create a desired surface texture, anodizing is used to enhance the surface properties of metals. Let us explore the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of these two processes.

Characteristics of Sandblasting:
1. Blast Pressure:

Sandblasting is typically done at a blast pressure range of 70 to 100 PSI.

2. Abrasive Media:

Different types of abrasive media including sand, glass beads, and aluminum oxide can be used for sandblasting based on the desired finish.

3. Surface Roughness:

Sandblasting can create a rough surface with a depth ranging from 0.1 to 3.5 mils.

4. Equipment:

Sandblasting equipment typically includes a compressor, abrasive media container, blast hose, and nozzle.

5. Environmental Impact:

Sandblasting produces a lot of dust and can create an environmental hazard if not done correctly.

Advantages of Sandblasting:
1. Surface Preparation: Sandblasting is an excellent method for preparing surfaces for painting, coating or bonding applications.

2. Rust Removal: Sandblasting can effectively remove rust and other surface contaminants.

3. Texture Creation: Sandblasting can create a variety of surface textures including matte, satin and metallic finishes.

Disadvantages of Sandblasting:
1. Surface Damage: Improper sandblasting techniques can damage the surface and create rough patches that require additional smoothing.

2. Environmental Impact:
Sandblasting generates a lot of dust which can be harmful to the environment if not contained properly.

3. High Costs: Sandblasting can be an expensive process due to the cost of equipment and the time taken to complete the work.

Characteristics of Anodizing:
1. Voltage:

Anodizing is typically done at a voltage range of 12 to 18 volts.

2. Surface Finish:

Anodizing creates a smooth, uniform surface that is resistant to corrosion and wear.

3. Coating Thickness:

Anodizing can create coatings with a thickness ranging from 0.1 to 5 mils.

4. Color Options:

Anodizing can produce an array of color options including clear, black, bronze, and gold.

5. Equipment:

Anodizing equipment typically includes an anodizing tank, power supply, and various chemicals.

Advantages of Anodizing:
1. Corrosion Resistance:

Anodizing creates a protective barrier on the surface of metal, which makes it highly resistant to corrosion.

2. Wear Resistance:

Anodizing generates a hard, durable surface that is highly resistant to wear and tear.

3. Aesthetic Appeal:

Anodizing produces an aesthetically pleasing surface finish that is great for decorative purposes.

Disadvantages of Anodizing:
1. Limited Color Choices:

Although anodizing can produce an array of color options, it is not possible to match every color.

2. Surface Damage:

Improper anodizing techniques can damage the surface of the metal and create rough patches that require additional smoothing.

3. Cost:

Anodizing is generally an expensive process due to the cost of equipment and chemicals.

Process

One unique aspect of anodizing is that it can be used to create a two-tone effect, where half the surface has an anodized color and the other half is left a natural metal color.

This effect is achieved by carefully masking off the areas where the anodizing color is not desired. This can be done using a variety of techniques, such as applying a wax or tape to cover the surface, or using a resistive ink to print a pattern on the surface. Once the masking is complete, the metal is anodized as usual, resulting in the desired two-tone effect.

Application

1. Aviation Industry:

One of the primary applications of milling 6061 aluminum sandblasted anodized parts is in the aviation industry, where they are extensively used in aircraft parts such as landing gear components, structural parts, and engine components. These parts are subjected to intense wear and tear and have to withstand high temperatures and harsh weather conditions. The anodized coating on the parts ensures that they are protected against corrosion, abrasion, and other forms of damage.

2. Construction Industry:

The construction industry also makes use of them in the form of window frames, door frames, and other building components. These parts are designed to withstand the elements and provide long-lasting durability and strength. The anodized coating not only provides protection against corrosion but also gives the parts an attractive finish that enhances the aesthetics of the building.

3. Electronics Industry:

The electronics industry uses them in the production of various components such as computer casings, mobile phone cases, and other electronic devices. These parts are popular due to their lightweight and durable nature, making them ideal for use in portable devices. The anodized coating protects the parts against scratches and corrosion, ensuring that the devices remain functional for a longer period.

4. Sports Industry:

The use of Them can also be found in the sports industry, particularly in the production of bicycles, sports equipment, and golf clubs. The lightweight and durable nature of the parts make them a popular choice for manufacturing high-performance sporting equipment. The anodized coating provides protection against damage from exposure to water, sweat, and other environmental factors.

5. Automotive Industry:

Milling 6061 aluminum sandblasted anodized parts are designed to provide an attractive finish and enhance the overall aesthetics of the car. The anodized coating offers protection against damage from exposure to oils, chemicals, and other environmental factors, ensuring the parts remain functional and aesthetically pleasing for a long time.
