1. 6061 Aluminum Alloy
6061 aluminum alloy is the most commonly used aluminum alloy for industrial applications. It has a tensile strength of 40,000 psi and a yield strength of 35,000 psi. This alloy also has excellent corrosion resistance, making it suitable for outdoor applications. Its downside is that it is difficult to weld.
2. 7075 Aluminum Alloy
7075 aluminum alloy is one of the highest-strength aluminum alloys and is often used in aerospace applications. It has a tensile strength of 83,000 psi and a yield strength of 73,000 psi. This alloy also has good fatigue strength and corrosion resistance. However, it is not suitable for welding due to its high hardness.
3. 2024 Aluminum Alloy
2024 aluminum alloy is another high-strength aluminum alloy commonly used in aerospace applications. It has a tensile strength of 68,000 psi and a yield strength of 47,000 psi. This alloy also has good fatigue resistance and low density. However, it has poor corrosion resistance compared to other aluminum alloys.
4. 5052 Aluminum Alloy
5052 aluminum alloy is commonly used in marine applications due to its excellent corrosion resistance. It has a tensile strength of 33,000 psi and a yield strength of 28,000 psi. This alloy also has good formability and weldability.

International grades (using four Arabic numerals, now commonly used expression methods):
1XXX means more than 99% pure aluminum series, such as 1050, 1100
2XXX means aluminum-copper alloy series, such as 2014
3XXX means aluminum-manganese alloy series, such as 3003
4XXX means aluminum-silicon alloy series, such as 4032
5XXX means aluminum-magnesium alloy series, such as 5052
6XXX means aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy series, such as 6061, 6063
7XXX means aluminum-zinc alloy series such as 7001
8XXX indicates an alloy system other than the above.
6000 series aluminum alloy represents 6061 which mainly contains magnesium and silicon, so the advantages of 4000 series and 5000 series are concentrated. 6061 is a cold-treated aluminum forging product, suitable for applications with high requirements for corrosion resistance and oxidation. Good workability, easy coating, and good processability.
