Stainless Steel CNC Turning Parts

CNC stainless steel turning parts are high-precision machine components that are used in a wide range of industries, including aerospace, automotive, medical, and electronics. These parts are typically manufactured using computer numerical control (CNC) machining technology, which allows for highly accurate and intricate designs.

Product Description

Stainless Steel CNC Turning Parts are commonly used in a variety of applications, including aerospace, automotive, medical, and industrial industries.

One of the key advantages is their durability and resistance to corrosion. Stainless steel is a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material that can withstand a variety of harsh environments and conditions. This makes it an ideal material choice for parts that need to operate reliably and consistently over long periods of time.

Product Feature

Stainless Steel CNC Turning Parts are a popular part in various industries due to its high resistance to rust, corrosion, and stains. However, there are various grades and types of stainless steel, each with unique properties that make them suitable for specific applications.

1. 304 Stainless Steel
304 stainless steel is the most widely used and versatile type of stainless steel. It contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel, giving it excellent corrosion resistance, toughness, and formability. Its maximum operating temperature is around 870°C. The tensile strength of 304 stainless steel is 515 Mpa, with a yield strength of 205 Mpa, and a Rockwell hardness of 70 HRB.

2. 316 Stainless Steel
316 stainless steel is a high-performance grade that contains 16% chromium, 10% nickel, and 2% molybdenum. This combination of elements gives it superior resistance to corrosion and pitting compared to other grades, making it a popular choice for marine and chemical industries. The tensile strength of 316 stainless steel is 515 Mpa, with a yield strength of 205 Mpa, and a Rockwell hardness of 95 HRB.

3. 430 Stainless Steel
430 stainless steel contains 17% chromium and 0.12% carbon, making it a ferritic stainless steel that is best suited for low-temperature applications. It has good corrosion resistance, high-temperature oxidation resistance, and good mechanical properties. The tensile strength of 430 stainless steel is 450 Mpa, with a yield strength of 205 Mpa, and a Rockwell hardness of 65 HRB.

4. 904L Stainless Steel
904L stainless steel is a non-stabilized austenitic stainless steel that contains 21% chromium, 25% nickel, and 4.5% molybdenum. It has excellent resistance to corrosion, especially in acidic environments, and is commonly used in chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, and oil and gas industries. The tensile strength of 904L stainless steel is 490 Mpa, with a yield strength of 195 Mpa, and a Rockwell hardness of 70 HRB.

Compared to other steel grades like 201 and 430, 304 stainless steel has a higher corrosion resistance, better formability, and higher fatigue strength. On the other hand, 316 stainless steel is more resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion compared to 304, although it has lower machinability. 904L stainless steel, on the other hand, has superior corrosion resistance to both 316 and 304 stainless steel but comes at a higher cost.

Process

Turning is a common machining process used to create cylindrical shapes and remove material from a workpiece's surface. The cutting tool rotates while the workpiece is held in a chuck and turned by the spindle. This process is usually used in the manufacturing industry to create a variety of products ranging from small parts to large components used in airplanes and heavy machinery.

One of the essential elements of turning is achieving the proper cutting speed. The cutting speed is the surface speed of the workpiece relative to the cutting tool. The cutting speed should be set to match the workpiece's material composition and the type of cutting tool used. Proper cutting speed ensures that the cutting tool doesn't overheat or wear out too quickly.

Another crucial factor in turning is feed rate. The feed rate is the distance the cutting tool moves across the workpiece's surface per revolution. The feed rate should be set to match the cutting speed and the material's hardness. A slow feed rate can lead to poor surface finishes, while a high feed rate can cause excessive wear on the cutting tool.

The depth of cut is also essential in turning. The depth of cut is the distance the cutting tool moves into the workpiece. The depth of cut should be chosen based on the machine's capability, the workpiece's material, and the desired surface finish. A deeper cut can remove more material quickly, but it can also put more stress on the machine and the cutting tool.

Application

1. Aerospace Industry:
The aerospace industry consumes a large number of stainless steel parts in their components like hydraulic system fittings, actuators, brackets, and gearboxes. These parts require high-strength material that can withstand the harsh environment of aerospace vehicles and must be produced according to accuracy, consistency, and precision of form and function.

2. Defense and Military:
Several stainless steel components are used in defense and military equipment like tanks, helicopters, and fighter jets. The ability to withstand high stress and extreme vibration are crucial aspects that make stainless steel parts ideal for such applications.

3. Food Industry:
Stainless Steel CNC Turning Parts also finds vast applications in the food industry for making processing equipment. These parts must meet specific standards, including easy-to-clean and hygienic features, which ensure the safe handling of food products.

4. Automotive Industry:
The automotive industry is another significant area where they are used for the manufacturing of various parts such as engine components, gearshift levers, drive shafts, and suspension components, etc.

5. Mining Industry:
The mining industry is one of the critical users of them. The parts used in the mining industry must withstand the high stress and harsh conditions to deliver better productivity. Heavy-duty parts such as drill bits, scoop tram bucket teeth, and crushing equipment rely on high-grade stainless steel for their performance.

6. Chemical Industry:
The chemical industry also depends on stainless steel parts for their processing equipment. The quality of stainless steel plays an important role in this industry as it must resist corrosion by the various chemicals used in the production process.

7. Textile Industry:
They are also used in textile machinery, where they are commonly used for parts such as gears and pulleys. The parts must be durable, rust-resistant, and temperature-stable, so they can function properly in the textile production process.
